"RallyWrench" (rndlitebmw)

By which I mean, post Clarkson, Hammond and May. I haven’t watched any of it until tonight, on Netflix. I’ve watched 47 seconds, and already I want to punch Chris Evans in the face.
The other hosts are cool. But this guy, Jesus Christ, shut the fuck up. I know he’s gone by now, but I probably won’t watch it again. Sabine is great, Matt is Joey but older so you can’t hate him, Chris is great, but that’s when he’s Chris Harris On Cars, superb wheelman talker or Goodwood guy, and not Chris Harris, Top Gear guy. They’ve managed to make my favorite (current/non Peter Egan) automotive journalist short of Sam Smith overly dramatic and wrecked him in editing. Chris Harris is a better driver/presenter than Top Gear will ever show. So, ah, pass, I guess? I’m pretty far behind the times on such things.

I’ll give it a shot. Not much time for such things, so fast forwarding past Evans would be welcome.

Season 23 and 24 are so far apart they feel like two completely different shows. And I would honestly put the Dubai race (episode 4) among the all time great TG films outside the specials.

Haven’t watched a second of new Top Gear but I can already tell from your pic that Chris Evans has a very punchable face
(So does Clarkson but that’s beside the point)

Yeah, this series was rubbish.
The new-new series though, it’s great - better than the Grand Tour imo. They ditched Evans and put Harris in the front seat instead, go and check it out if you can, it’s an astronomical degree better.

Series 23 is now on Netflix, so I’ve been watching it at a leisurely pace. I honestly don’t get the hate for it. Yeah, Chris Evans isn’t the best, but I really don’t find him that annoying. I found Clarkson more annoying when I first started watching Top Gear, I think.
Probably the thing I like the least is Sabine Schmitz. I have nothing against her or her driving, she can certainly drive the wheels off most things. I just find her hard to understand a lot of the time.

That one was my favorite post Clarkson film. It also gave me a hankering to go buy a Ducati 1299 superlegerra. But I have no money:(

Once I adjusted to Evans yelling at everything it wasn’t so bad. My fiancée doesn’t watch the show like me but enjoyed the old guard. She really didn’t like Evans.

I’m just gonna go ahead and say skip the first season of post-Clarkson/Hammond/May. But Extra-Gear was actually half-decent for that season; better than the main show imo. And the post-Chris Evans season is actually good. Not back to same level of the GT trio, but a decent show nonetheless.

I think I might have made it a full minute, but you’ve said exactly how I feel about Evans.

Yeah, he’s one of those British things lost in translation. I’m a casual watcher of top gear, and the ginger toothpick just won’t do. He’s numerically and statistically exactly as awful as Clarkson, who’s awfulness is more entertaining than grating.

i actually didnt mind the season as a whole. it does need to be binge watched, so you dont feel like youre being stiffed by any particular episode.
oh, and ff through every point where that jackass’s mouth is open.

I agree. It is hard to get through, but I am forcing myself to just to be able to watch the season after they canned him.

Skip the first season, go straight to two, then judge away. Except for the le Blanca bits in season one, and Chris Harris, the rest of the season wasn’t much to watch. I did enjoy the Ken block and Matt Leblanc bit, I think that was the end of season 1?

It was, and it’s better to skip the episode it was in and go straight to the extended cut youtube.

What does this button do?, I like Leblanc’s delivery. It works for the show. His 911r review was good too.

Launch control. Since competitors in rally/rallycross hold the handbrake before launching it’s not uncommon to put the button for the launch control on top of the handle so they can hold it down with their thumb and release both the handbrake and the launch control at once.

So true! The last season had some teething issues but is nearly there. I’m excited for the next season
